My Chihuahua's swollen cheek drained blood. Is it an emergency?

No this isn't a cold, it is either an injury or a tooth infection, it could also be a face abscess or an allergic reaction. you need to take her to the vet ASAP in order to get it checked and treated.

I suspect it may be a rapidly growing abscess. Tooth root abscesses usually result in swelling just below the eye. Please, clean the skin and the eye with boiled, warm water and cotton buds and make sure Yoda is not scratching or rubbing the face. Then take her to your local vets as soon as they open in the morning. If she looking very unwell or she is in a lot of pain, call your local emergency service tonight.

Poor Xarina. This sounds like she had an initial puncture wound that has now turned into an abscess. This not only should be drained using sterile procedures through your vet but she will also need to be placed on antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medicaiton. This cannot be managed at home unfortunately. If you cannot get it your vet until morning, then placing a cold compress on the area for 5-10 minutes may help some. I would then allow it to drain on its own because this area is likely very sore and also you have the potential to cause transfer of bacteria into nearby vessels, which can cause sepsis if you don't follow up right away with some type of antibiotic or internal flush (usually under sedation). Letting you vet properly care for this on tomorrow is the best option for Xarina's care. There are many regular vet hospitals open on the weekend, so google search for some in your area. Poor Booty! I think he should be examined by a vet to determine the exact cause and best way to treat. Your vet can shave the area and clean it to determine the cause. It could be a ruptured abscess from a bite but it is hard to tell without examining the wound. Your vet can also examine his mouth to make sure he doesn't have a dental problem. He may need an antibiotic, anti-inflammatory, and/or other medications to treat. Please call your vet an schedule an examination so treatment can be started. Hope he gets better soon!

It may be allergic reaction too, but it would be less likely. Lethargy and lack of appetite could be caused by fever and discomfort from the swelling. Please, take Taco to your nearest open vet for an appointment. Once the diagnosis is confirmed, your vet will recommend treatment, it will likely be a course of antibiotics and pain relief.
