Dog swallowed plastic squeaker, has mucus on poop. Is it serious?

If Piper swallowed the entire squeaky part of a toy, then it may not be able to pass through her GI tract because of its size. You have a couple of options. You can immediately go to your vet to have them induce vomiting if she ingested it within the last 30 minutes. This is sometimes successful for objects that are too large to pass out of the stomach. If you do not decide to do that, you need to monitor her closely for any abnormalities. If she does not feel well, does not want to eat, or starts vomiting, she needs to see a veterinarian immediately. If the squeaker gets stuck in her intestines it can be an emergency. Good luck! I would recommend to wait as this episodes may be incidental or related to a mild inflammation caused by the squeaker, from what you are describing I do not think there any risk of complete obstruction at this stage. As a first approach I would suggest to withhold food for the next 8 hours and then start feeding with a bland diet based on boiled chicken and rice in small portion every 6 hours for the following 48hours. Then gradually reintroduce the normal diet over 5 days. I would definitively recommend a veterinary check up if you notice diarrhoea, more vomiting, lethargy or inappetence. If your pup has eaten a foreign body such as plastic it is possible she has a partial obstruction which is why she is still able to eat and pass some (soft) stools. It would be best to bring her into a vet ASAP to have her examined for a foreign body or other issues such as GI upset, parasites, illness, etc, so that she can be treated, especially since this issue has been ongoing for weeks.

Hello! It would be helpful to know for sure if the feces contained a piece of string. If so, it's worrisome that Shadow ate string and that there may be additional pieces stuck in her intestinal tract. This would require a vet visit for an x-ray and possible abdominal surgery. However, if it's only mucous, it may be that she has a bout of colitis. This can be caused by diet change, bacteria, or parasites, and usually treated with a bland diet and probiotics or other medications. If you are unsure whether it was a string, it would be safest to have her evaluated by a vet. Even if it is colitis, she could benefit from evaluation and treatment, especially because she is having less energy.
