My dog swallowed a chicken drumette. Will he have digestion issues?

Signs you need to watch for are vomiting or a decreased appetite primarily. If you notice either of these signs peppa should be evaluated by a veterinarian right away. You should also watch for diarrhea and feed her a bland, low fat diet such as cooked chicken breast and rice if this occurs. If peppa does start vomiting or refuses her food we worry that The bones caused irritation of the esophagus, stomach or intestine or worse case scenario that they caused an obstruction or perforation in the bowel. A veterinarian would do an X-ray to evaluate what is likely going on.

I highly recommend that you have him evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Hello. As long as Bandit did not show any indication or irritation or problems swallowing the chicken bone, he should be fine. The bone will most likely soften in his stomach & be digested. Just watch him for the next few days for any signs of digestive distress including vomiting, a loss of appetite, bloating or abdominal pain. It will probably be fine. Watch for any vomiting or diarrhea, and see a vet if it happens and lasts longer than 24 hours. But the stomach acid is very powerful, and most likely Max will do just fine with his little treat!

If this is a cooked chicken bone and just one bone usually it will be digested and not cause your dog any issues. It is best to observe him for the next couple days for signs of GI upset to be on the safe side. If Hercules has loss of appetite, vomiting, abdominal pain, straining to have a bowel movement or lethargy then a visit to his vet is recommended.

This is a fairly common problem, unfortunately - dogs are good at getting into things that they shouldn't eat! I would expect that Charlie may have some mild GI upset for the next day or two (mild vomiting or diarrhea) - as long as he's active and eating and drinking normally, I wouldn't necessarily worry. There is a small chance that the bones could cause a blockage or an intestinal perforation - this is not common in my experience, but something to watch out for. Some dogs may also get serious illnesses like pancreatitis as a result of eating greasy "people food" like chicken wings. I would monitor Charlie closely for the next 24-48 hours - if he stops eating, has repeated episodes of vomiting, or diarrhea with blood in it then I would recommend having him seen by a vet right away in case of a serious problem.
