Why is my dog suddenly wobbly, bumping, and weak in her back legs?

That sounds concerning for a neurological issue with Mollie although in an older pet, arthritis can also affect how a pet walks. Neurological disease can be an issue by it's self but can also be caused by liver disease, toxins or electrolyte imbalances. I would recommend to take Mollie into a vet as soon as you can for an exam and likely bloodwork. Sometimes it can can be vestibular disease which resolves on it's own. Best to get her checked out. A condition called Coonhound paralysis (Polyradiculoneuritis) is a very likely possibility here or even a toxin ingestion that affects the nervous system. Coonhound paralysis is a nervous system disease that causes these types of symptoms (rear limb ataxia). It can be caused by eating raw chicken, recent vaccination, exposure to a raccoon, or even an immune medicated disease. I would highly recommend taking Banjo to your local vet right away to get him looked at. An ER vet visit is certainly warranted here if your regular vet is not currently open so that he can get seen quickly and testing done. If this is indeed this condition, there is no specific treatment, but he has a good chance of spontaneously improvement over several weeks. I do hope that Banjo's condition improves soon! Poor Lucy! This could be a few different things. The most common things would be geriatric vestibular disease, an inner ear infection, a cerebral vascular accident (stroke), or a brain tumor. A lot of times it is geriatric vestibular disease which is a disorder they get when they get older that causes imbalance, but it improves with time. Unfortunately, they usually need supportive care to prevent dehydration. If she were mine, I would take her to your vet for an exam. Your vet may want to run some blood work to ensure her organs look okay and there is no toxins involved. Your vet will likely recommend supportive care and possibly antibiotics or steroids to cover all the possible problems. They may want to keep her there to watch her closely. I would give her a few days to see if she improves. I hope this helps!

There are a variety of medical causes for the symptoms Lil Girl had last night- toxicity, spinal or disk issue, autoimmune disorders, brain tumor, infectious causes and others could all be causes. Scooting or rubbing her rear end on the floor could be due to full anal sacs that need to be expressed or potentially a parasitic infection could be possibilities. I would recommend Lil Girl have a full exam and work up done with her veterinarian. Your veterinarian may take x-rays and run blood work and a fecal test or other diagnostics as needed to determine a cause. The type of symptoms you are describing should be addressed by a veterinarian. Be sure not to leave out the part you mentioned here concerning a familial epileptic connection. Is it possible that Priscilla may have had a seizure and you are now seeing the after effects of the episode?? Either way, the neurologic symptoms, particularly the speed with which they came on, are very concerning and should be addressed at some point today. Depending on the cause of the problem, it has the ability to get worse quickly. I would not delay on having her seen.

Hello, sorry to hear about Skittles. There are certainly several things that can cause dogs to have problems moving their legs. What you're describing however, seems to be more likely associated with an injury to her back. Most commonly in dogs, they may "slip" a disk which causes compression to their spinal cord. There are other injuries that are not compressive such as an swelling due to autoimmune disease in the spinal cord, a stroke to the spinal cord, or a fibrocartilagenous embolism which is more associated with larger breed dogs. Again their are other possibilities such as if she sprained a muscle or hurt her knees. Due to the concern for a potential back injury, Skittles should be evaluated by a veterinarian promptly to ensure she does/does not have a back injury. There are 2 options if she does have a back injury, you may elect to treat conservatively with strict rest and at home medications for 4-6 weeks or you may elect to have a neurologist evaluate her. The neurologist may then recommend an MRI and surgery based on the MRI. I know this is a lot of information to understand/explain so shortly but I would start off by having her evaluated by your veterinarian soon. In the interim, keep her quiet and rested, (no jumping, running, rough playing), make sure she is urinating and defecating, and keep her low to the ground. Best of luck and hope this helps.

All four legs or just two? Just weakness or paralysis? If it is just the back legs it could be hip dysplasia, a torn cruciate ligament, a dislocated hip a herniated disk in his back - just to name a few. If you are referring to all four legs this could be a muscle problem like myathenia gravis. It could be a nerve root tumor, herniated disk or any number of things. You need to get Millie to your vet for thorough orthopedic and neurological examinations to figure out what is going on with her. That way she can get the best treatment. I hope this helps.
