Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Female | spayed | 11 years and 7 months old

My 13 pound Chihuahua will be laying on the bed and all of a sudden jump up with her tail between her legs and run like she's having a sharp pain it only lasts about a second and then she'll be fine when I've asked my vet about it he just shrugs and says it can be anything it's happening more often now and I'm going to take her back and get more involved lwith him about what we can do to find out what's causing it any ideas as to what this could be

There are many possible reasosn but anal gland discomfort and spinal pain are common reasons for this sort of occasional, darting pain. I would recommend getting her glands checked as well as a full physical exam for any obvious causes or signs of discomfort such as reduced muscle in the hind legs etc
