Why is my dog running with tail tucked, acting scared and panicky?

Oh poor girl! She is adorable! Sometimes dogs can get scared of a number of things and act that way. Try to think of anything that could have scared her such as a visitor, neighbors or even loud outside noises. Rarely, dogs try to get away when they do not feel well (more commonly seen with cats). Keep her close, pet her and let her know that everything will be ok with a calm demeanor and gentle voice. If no improvement is observed by tomorrow, have her examined by your veterinarian to ensure that there is no medical reason for her behavior. Good luck!

There are many possible reasosn but anal gland discomfort and spinal pain are common reasons for this sort of occasional, darting pain. I would recommend getting her glands checked as well as a full physical exam for any obvious causes or signs of discomfort such as reduced muscle in the hind legs etc

Poor Bow. These symptoms suggest that she either has anxiety from something that scared her or she is having a sudden pain response from somewhere in her body. If the panting episode is continuous and seems labored, she has dulled responses, +/- white or pale gums, or if she seems to be in pain, then I would rush her to the ER vet to have her looked over. However if she is alert, has a normal mentation (aware of her surroundings), panting and shaking are intermittent and not continuous, and if she slowly improves over the next hour as you try to slowly coax her out of her hiding spot, then I would wait it to until morning. Especially if she has a history of anxiety or a recent event (i.e. Thunderstorms, guests over, loud noises, etc) can be seen as a possible cause for her current state. It could be lots of things, a sound only Miki can hear, itching from fleas or allergies, pain, etc. If this behavior continues in 24 hours, it is a good idea to have him examined by a vet for any possible medical causes.

I would recommend a recheck and possibly pelvic xrays by your vet. The tucked tail and awkward/weak gait indicates pain or weakness in the hindlimbs or pelvis and may require additional treatment. It would be advisable to receheck the fistulas during this visit to rule out deeper abscesses developing also

Poor Tiki! It's possible that he could be injured. It's also possible that he is still agitated and scared from his encounter with the dog - it often takes cats 48 hours or more to calm down after a scary event like this. The safest option would be to take him to the vet for an exam in case he may be injured. If his exam is normal, then I would recommend leaving him alone for the next few days to give him a chance to calm down and feel comfortable again.

Take her out to potty on a leash, and bring her right back in when she's done. In the morning, have her seen by a vet. The vet can diagnose where the pain is coming from, and can dictate a treatment plan for it. She may also benefit from some pain medications, which the vet can prescribe.
