Why does my dog have sudden red blisters on his private area?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Yorkshire Terrier | Male | neutered | 13 lbs

My dog has two red blisters in his private that appeared all of a sudden. Not sure if it’s an insect bite or something else.

Hello, thank you for using PetCoach.

This looks to be a mild skin infection. Why it happened, we almost never know for sure. It could be from an insect bite but again, no way to know for sure. It does not look serious. I suggest you buy these medicated pads (linked below) and use them twice a day on the affected area. If after about 7-10 days it does not look better then you should have Maxwell examined by your veterinarian.
