My dog suddenly limps and recovers. Is his leg falling asleep?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 1 month old | 55 lbs

He was laying down sleeping and suddenly he jolted up and off the couch. He had his back kinda hunched and he was limping his back left leg. He let me check it out and he didn't whimper at all. He's done this once before a week or so ago. He was laying on that leg for a little while like last time too an now he's perfectly fine. Was his leg just asleep?

Hi,
It is possible that Spock could have just had his leg fall asleep. It's good that it got better which isn't a big cause of concern. If he seems non painful and not limping anymore there should not be any major issue.
May he live long and prosper!
