My dog suddenly limps and recovers. Is his leg falling asleep?

Puppies can heal quickly so please feel the leg and as long as it feels normal and he doesn’t cry then you can give him a few days to recover. I’d keep him quiet and take him out for potty breaks only for a day or two. If he’s still lame then you’ll need a veterinary exam to determine the cause. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Leo! I am so glad he is walking normally now, that is very good news! He probably just hit his leg hard when he fell. The fact he is walking normally now likely means nothing is broken. I would rest him for 2-3 days. If the limping returns take him to the vet, otherwise he should be fine! Hi and thanks for posting. This sounds a little concerning to me especially if this is happening frequently. Harvey could have a spinal condition causing this, ligament injury, joint disorders among other causes. My recommendation would be to have Harvey seen by his vet for an exam and a few x-rays to get idea of what the cause is so he can be treated appropriately.

I would continue to monitor him for any return of problems that you noticed and if they appear, I would have your vet evaluate him to make sure his legs are normal and that he seems physically within normal limits. Hard to say what happened. He may have been dreaming and was startled, possibly straining his legs. Sounds like he's good today so I don't think you have anything to worry about. Poor Sparky is in pain if he's limping. I recommend resting him for the next 48 hours. No running, jumping, or playing. Take him out to toilet on a leash, and bring him right back in when he's done. If he still appears painful after this time, then I would take him into the vet for an exam. The vet can diagnose where the pain is coming from, and can dictate a treatment plan for it. He may also benefit from some pain medications, which the vet can prescribe. Please do not give him any human pain medications, as many are toxic to dogs and can be fatal if given.

Poor Lily! There are many different possibilities in this case. It may be that she has simply bruised herself or damaged a muscle or ligament. However she may have a more serious injury such as a fracture or ligament rupture. If she seems to be comfortable and nothing looks out of place you could let her rest 24 hours then if she is no better or getting worse head to the vet.

Oh poor finn!! This is such a common occurrence with young, excitable puppies. If he is just limping slightly and able to bear some weight I would just allow him to rest and give him 24 hours to see if the limping resolves. If he can't use the leg or if limping is persisting beyond 24 hours I would have a vet evaluate him. I hope we wakes up from his rest feeling better!
