My puppy jumped from my arms and is limping. Should I see a vet?

If it just started you can let her rest for a few days with minimal walking and minimal physical exercise, if it does not improve within 3-4 days you will have to take her to the vet in order to get it checked and treated, she might need pain killers for a few days. if the vet think it's something more serious such as a fracture, joint injury or foreign body, he might recommend to have an xray done as well.

It's possible that he just sprained or jammed something. I'd let him rest for a bit but if he continues to be painful or won't use it then get him seen. He may have a fracture or dislocation if he hit hard enough. If he's crate trained out him to rest in there for a bit to see if he settles. Do not give otc medicines for pain!

Poor Hamish! I'm encouraged to hear that he is bearing some weight on the injured leg, as this makes a fracture seem a bit less likely. Instead, it sounds as though he may have a soft tissue (muscle, ligament, tendon) injury. Keep Hamish restricted to a crate or very small room to prevent him from running, jumping or playing over the next few days. Try to limit his activity to short leash walks strictly to eliminate. If he is still favoring the injured leg in the morning, Hamish should be examined by his vet for further evaluation and possible anti-inflammatory pain medications. Do not give any human pain medications, as none are safe for dogs. I hope that he feels better soon!

Poor Hunter! It sounds like he hurt himself jumping, and giving his young age, yes I would take him into the vet. This is because it's possible he could have broken a bone, and in young puppies, having an untreated broken bone could affect his growth. I think it's worth the vet visit. I hope this helps!

If Eleanor is limping she is in some degree of pain. I would definitely think out going to your veterinarian because clumsy puppies are prone to breaking bones. She may just have a soft tissue injury but it's always better to err on the side of caution. Since your pup can't talk, only a physical exam will be able to determine the source of the lameness. Just like people, the pain/limping can be related to many causes including a ligament tears, soft tissue injury, a knee cap out of place or even a hairline fracture. Since she is not bearing any weight on the leg, I recommend to have her examined today. She may need radiographs and the doctor will determine this based on the exam. She needs STRICT rest until she is examined. I hope she starts feeling better quickly.

Puppies can heal quickly so please feel the leg and as long as it feels normal and he doesn’t cry then you can give him a few days to recover.
