My 8-year-old Border Collie is suddenly blind and acting strange.

This is an emergency. Your dog needs to be seen by a veterinarian right away. Sudden loss of eye sight can be caused by many conditions, inherited/congenital eye disease, tick borne disease (Ehrlichiosis), diseases of the retina, SARDS (usually in older dogs), Inflammatory, autoimmune, or allergic causes and many more. Please take Buddy to a veterinarian now.

I recommend to have both your dogs examined by the veterinarian. Just like humans, many diseases can have the same clinical signs and so it is impossible to know the cause without a physical exam and likely some diagnostics. Being unbalanced and collapsing is extremely concerning for an issue with the heart, blood pressure or the brain. Other conditions can also cause collapse. Fatigue can be seen with many conditions as well and it could range from internal parasites to an autoimmune condition. Have both pets seen within the next day. Diseases tend to have the best outcome if they are dressed early. I hope this helps.

Gastrointestinal disorders, obstructions, bacterial, viral, or parasitic infections as well as pancreatitis among others. I would recommend Jake be seen by his veterinarian as soon as possible so he can be appropriately evaluated and treated. Your veterinarian may recommend blood work, x-rays, and other diagnosis tests to help aide in diagnosis for Jake. I hope this helps and I hope you are able to get him seen soon!

There is a condition called SARDS or sudden acute retinal degeneration syndrome. We don't know what causes this syndrome in dogs, but it does cause sudden blindness, weight gain, and increased water intake. I do not know what is causing this but you must take him to the emergencies urgently. sudden blindness can be caused by various conditions, mainly neurological diseases, it can also be caused by sudden high blood pressure and head trauma.

If you are noticing a sudden onset of blindness, Ryder needs to be examined by the veterinarian right away. This could be an indication of high blood pressure or other system disease that may respond well to treatment if caught early. A sudden change in behavior could be behavioral in nature OR it could be related to increased hunger from an endocrine disease. Discuss this with the veterinarian as well and make sure to keep things up and out of Ryder's reach. I hope this helps.

Diana needs to be seen by a veterinarian for an eye exam ASAP. There are quite a few conditions that can cause this, e.g. glaucoma, keratitis and even Ehrlichiosis, caused by a blood parasite. immune disease, trauma to the optic nerve, and canine distemper, etc. Treatment (some blindness can be reversed) will depend on the diagnosis.
