Why is my dog stretching out, walking funny on back legs, and in pain?

My dog seams to be walking funny on her back legs stretching the out and looking lick shes in pain

This position can be a sign of a stomach ache or abdominal pain. This can be from many things including constipation, an intestinal blockage, stomach ulcer etc. please monitor if she’s eating, drinking, peeing and pooping normally. If not then please bring her in for an exam. They will check her over to see if they can find the reason for these symptoms, and may recommend abdominal X-rays and lab tests. Oh no, poor Cleo! She could have strained a ligament, or she could be having a problem with her patella moving out of it's correct anatomical position. You massaging her leg may be helping it move back into position. I recommend resting her for the next 48 hours. No running, jumping, or playing. Take her out to toilet on a lead only, and bring her right back in when she's done. If she still appears painful after this time, then I would take her into the vet for an exam. The vet can diagnose where the pain is coming from, and can dictate a treatment plan for it. She may also benefit from some pain medications, which the vet can prescribe. Please do not give her any human pain medications, as many are toxic to dogs and can be fatal if given.

If she seems to be in pain than she should be examined by a vet to determine the cause. She could have a musculoskeletal issue, abdominal pain, infection, etc. Your vet can localize the pain, run labwork, and take X-rays, if needed, to diagnose the problem. Once a cause is identified, your vet can determine the best way to treat. She may need an anti-inflammatory and/or pain medications to help. Hope she feels better soon.

Hello! That crouched stance is usually a sign of either back or abdominal pain, which can also cause decreased behavior. I would recommend having him get a physical exam from a veterinarian. If they are able to localize simple arthritis pain, they may be able to give him some anti-inflammatory or pain medications. If they are worried about a serious back problem or abdominal pain, they will likely recommend x-rays to look at his intestinal tract and spine and possibly bloodwork to check his major organ functions. Since Beki is exhibiting a variety of symptoms (not eating and walking abnormally) I would recommend you take her to the veterinarian to be checked out. She could be suffering from back/spinal pain or abdominal pain from something like pancreatitis. A physical examination by your veterinarian will help determine the cause of her discomfort. Bella needs to see the veterinarian today. Signs like this are never normal and can indicate many things. Especially being a Dachshund, there is a concern she has injured her back, has a compressed disc or has a protruding disc. Other causes are also possible. Injuries to the back can become serious quickly and can lead to paralysis. A physical exam and radiographs needed to begin figuring out the cause and the best treatment. Other diagnostics may also be indicated. She needs strict activity restriction so no running, jumping, walks, playing or stairs. Best of luck.

My dog is slow, tail tucked, and stretching. Could it be stomach pain?

Oh poor JoJo! The stretching can be a sign of stomach pain, as well as moving slowly and her tail tucked between her legs. I would monitor her for now, and if she is still acting this way in the morning, I would have her seen by a vet. If she develops other signs such as unproductive vomiting, bloated abdomen, looking at her abdomen, or restlessness (all signs of bloat), take JoJo into a vet immediately.

I am sorry to hear about Kira. Going down on her front legs with her bottom up in the air is most often a sign of abdominal pain and can be a cause for concern. You may be able to tell that her belly is bothering her if by pressing on the abdomen. If she continues this behavior it would be reason to seek veterinary care ASAP. It can be a sign of pancreatitis, a twisting of the stomach or intestines, an intestinal blockage, severe stomach ulcer, and more. If this behavior continues or she begins to vomit or retch, or becomes weak or pale, or begins breathing heavily I would recommend taking her in to the emergency vet.
