Dog straining, bloody urine. Is it a UTI or emergency vet needed?

If she appears lethargic, ill or distressed, or if the urine appears very bloody, then she should be seen by a vet ASAP. It's also worth noting that even though the same antibiotic is prescribed each time, when UTI's occur frequently the bacteria that cause them can become stronger, and more resistant to the normally-used antibiotics - this is why urine culture is so valuable in these cases, in order to make sure that the appropriate antibiotic is used. I would recommend that you get her in today, since it's another 36 hours since your regular vet opens, and that's a long time for her to be uncomfortable.

She likely has a urinary tract infection or possibly bladder stones. If you can't get her in any sooner than Monday and can't call them to ask for advice or to move up the appointment and she still seems otherwise okay, get her seen Monday. If she does start feeling sick or has trouble urinating, take her to an emergency clinic, just understand that at any vet right now the wait may be long unless she is an emergency and in very bad shape. I don't know of any products you can buy over the counter that will help, and using OTC products could actually mask symptoms that could help lead to a faster diagnosis when she does get to her appointment.

The only treatment that can give her any relief is an antibiotic treatment, which will also solve the problem, but you will need to take her to a veterinary clinic or ER in order to get this treatment.

Hello. This could be a result of a serious bladder infection, prostatitis, urinary bladder stones, a bleeding polyp/mass or trauma. This definitely warrants a trip to your veterinarian ASAP. Yes, I would take Lala back into the vet. The blood in the urine is concerning and can be a sign of a UTI or bladder stones. The vet can do blood tests and a urinalysis to diagnose what is causing the blood in her urine so she can be treated. As for the vomiting, deep coughs can sometimes cause a dog to vomit but feeling poorly from a UTI can lead to it as well. It would be a good idea to have her seen by a vet today.

She may indeed have a UTI, but also a slipped disc in her spine could make urination painful, or bladder stones.
