My large dog has storm anxiety. What can I give them for a hurricane?

You can always try over the counter remedies for anxiety before resorting to drugs. There are medications you can get from your vet that help dogs with anxiety due to travel. Unfortunately there are no OTC medications you can give them. You can also get them thunder shirts, which have been reported to help dogs with travel anxiety. Without knowing exactly what type of travel they will be doing (i.e. plane, car), I can't give more specific advice, but I would call your vet today to discuss the use of medications for your dogs, and you can order thunder shirts online. Yes there are some over the counter products you can try such as the thunder shirt or an Adaptil collar or diffuser. However if you want something that will work without fail I would try Alprazolam or Valium but these require a prescription through your vet so schedule an appt soon. I'm sorry to hear of your concerns with Rosie. It's terrible to have your pet be so scared. I would recommend asking your veterinarian about using an anti-anxiety medication and/or sedative prior to thunderstorms to help reduce Rosie's anxiety.
