My dog is stiff, hunched, and breathing shallow. What's wrong?

Pet's info: Dog | Bulldog | Male | unneutered | 3 years old | 65 lbs

Axle hasnt, that we know of, been injured but he is definitely stiff. He has a hunched back. He is drinking and eating still but as usual. He also can't lay his head slash neck all the way down to lay down and sleep. He is having shallow breathing, nose looks a little dry, but has been drinking a couple bowls of water a day. He did have fleas but thank we got rid of them now. And has had a past with hookworms. What would you think could be a problem with him? And thanks in advance

Poor Axle! This definitely sounds like a neck or back injury. They can tweak their back from running too fast or turning/jumping the wrong way. This could be an inflamed intervertebral disc or a pulled muscle. I would strictly confine him for a week. I would also have your vet check him out to confirm this is the problem. Your vet will be able to get him started on some pain anti-inflammatory meds to help heal his injury and make him feel better.

If he looks like he is labored breathing, his gums are not pink, or he is walking really wobbly (drunk walking), then I would take him to the emergency clinic as This could be a serious problem and need to be addressed immediately. I hope this helps and that sweet baby starts to feel better soon.

Poor baby. It sounds like he may have injured something. It is common for them to injure their back or neck and act this way. I would have your vet look st him today. Your vet will be able to localize the pain and give him the appropriate pain meds to help him feel better. If it is his lower back, you vet may also prescribe him a stool softener so it is easier for him to have a bowel movement. Your vet will also be able to do X-rays if needed. I do not recommend to give any human pain meds as most of these are toxic to dogs. I hope this helps and he starts to feel better soon!

My dog is suddenly stiff, in pain, and won't eat. What's wrong?

Poor Max. I’m sorry he’s not feeling well. Im suspicious from what I see in the picture that his neck or back hurts. If he is not back to normal tomorrow then I would recommend that he be evaluated by a veterinarian. Then they can decide if dog safe pain medication is appropriate for him or if other diagnostics should be done. I hope he improves quickly.

Why is my dog's back leg hurting and he's struggling with stairs?

Poor Jax. He may have tweak his hips or back. As long as he is eating and drinking you could try to rest him for a few days to see if he improves. If he worsens or not improving, I would see your vet for an exam and possible X-rays. Your vet may want to make sure there is nothing broken and make sure his spine looks ok. Also your vet will be able to give him some pain meds to keep him comfortable. I would not give any human pain meds as most are toxic to dogs. I hope this helps.

Why does my dog whimper with neck/leg pain and stiffness after rest?

My dog got injured, breathing heavy, not walking or eating. What now?
