Why does my pit bull have stiff black spots on his neck and shoulder?

It is difficult to know without seeing the lesions but he could have a bacterial skin infection, allergic dermatitis, trauma, etc. You could bathe him with a medicated shampoo and see if that helps. Otherwise, he should be examined by a vet to determine the cause and treat. He may need an antibioic, anti-histamine, and/or a corticosteroid to treat.

This presentation could be due to a trauma or localized spot of skin infection (likely to be caused by bacteria). Underlying allergy can predispose to skin infection. A check up, appropriate disinfection and possibly antibiotics (oral, topical or in a shampoo formulation) are needed to solve the problem. Disinfection can eventually be started at home with very diluted hibiscrub or betadine or salted water baths. Buster collar may be useful as well to avoid any licking/scratching. These spots could be due to a underlying skin infection or a skin mite called demodex. If there are only the 3 small spots you can try to treat them topically at home with neosporin. If they sites do not resolve or if you begin to notice more spots I would recommend taking Maddox to the vet to be checked out. Hello. It is very hard from the picture to determine exactly what is going on, however based on the description, it sounds like Rambo could have a "pyoderma" or "hot spot". It could also be other conditions however a hot spot is most likely in that region. These tend to get much bigger very quickly, and often require medications (antibiotics and pain management) to heal. I recommend having Rambo to the vet to have it checked out.

I'm not quite sure what it is, either! It could be small amounts of dried blood in the pores, dirt, or debris from the bumps healing. I can see a few more pustules in the second picture, so it looks like Panda hasn't completely resolved the original issue. You can try a follicle flushing shampoo, like Dechra DermaBenSs Shampoo which contains benzoyl peroxide, but Panda may need oral antibiotics to clear up any infection present. Also, make sure she is on a good flea preventative as sometimes flea bites can present this way. If it isn't looking better in a couple days, Panda should definitely go to the vet for diagnosis.

Hi, it seems like Rincon may have gotten into something he is allergic to. I would make sure they are both on flea and tick prevention first, and if not, treat them with a topical purchased at a pet store or from a vet. If this does not resolve the problem, you can try an antihistamine like Benadryl. There may be an insect or type of plant he is allergic to. This may be repeated whenever the bumps come up. The black, crusty appearance of the skin on her belly is called lichenification - it's caused by chronic itching over a long period of time. There are a number of things that could cause severe itching, hair loss, and scabs like this. Some common possibilities would include allergies, fleas, a bacterial or fungal skin infection, or skin mites (mange). Treatment will depend on what the underlying problem is, so it's important to get a diagnosis first in order to know how to help her. I would recommend taking her to the vet this week for an exam - he/she can do some simple skin tests to help diagnose the problem and get her started on appropriate medication to treat it.
