My 1-year-old pit bull has burn-like spots on his skin. What are they?

These spots could be due to a underlying skin infection or a skin mite called demodex. If there are only the 3 small spots you can try to treat them topically at home with neosporin. If they sites do not resolve or if you begin to notice more spots I would recommend taking Maddox to the vet to be checked out. Hi, it seems like Rincon may have gotten into something he is allergic to. I would make sure they are both on flea and tick prevention first, and if not, treat them with a topical purchased at a pet store or from a vet. If this does not resolve the problem, you can try an antihistamine like Benadryl. There may be an insect or type of plant he is allergic to. This may be repeated whenever the bumps come up. IF this does not resolve it, take him to a vet for a skin exam. Good luck, i hope this helps!

The red spots and scabbing that you describe could be indicative of either a bacterial or yeast skin infection, or mites/mange. If the prescription shampoo hasn't helped in the past 3 weeks, you should give your vet a call so they can reassess the skin. They may need to do skin scrapes to microscopically check for mites or skin impression smears to microscopically check for bacteria or yeast. Based upon those results, Achilles may need oral antibiotics or another appropriate medication.

It looks like she has a hot spot that is infected. Have her examined by a vet for treatment. Your vet can shave the area and clean it with an antiseptic wound cleaner. She may need an antibiotic, anti-histamine, corticosteroid to help treat. You can also bathe her with a medicated dog shampoo and see if that helps.

Is there a wound or something stuck in the hair and under the skin? I would try to give him a bath to see if you can scrub some of the black stuff off to get a better look at the skin. If there is a wound there then it will need to see a vet to have the hair clipped and treated appropriately.

This is a skin infection. Medicated baths sometimes help but fair skinned dogs are more prone to allergies and skin infections. To clear this up she probably needs oral antibiotics for several weeks. This is not contagious. Some dogs develop this when laying in a moist area, or on something irritating. Please take her for a veterinary exam to confirm the problem and get medication to treat this.
