Is it normal for my dog to just stare at her reflection in a mirror?

Unfortunately, it's likely impossible to know why Sky is acing this way. It's possible something has scared her about the mirror and now she has developed a negative association. You may try to counteract this by creating a positive association. Begin by having a high value treat or toy. Start playing/a training session close to the mirror, trying to make it not a big deal. Reward her every time she looks at the mirror and doesn't bark. Do this for a few days. Once Sky seems comfortable playing by the door way, toss the toy or treat next to the mirror gently and allow her to retrieve it and continue the playing. Do this until Sky is comfortable. Practice walking in and out of the room with her and reward her every time she she looks at the mirror and is quiet. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.

It can be normal for a pet to become more attached to their owner, especially if there is a life event (recent move, recent family addition, change in work schedule, etc) that occurs. Dogs are true companion animals whom often grow attached to their owners. As long as Bella doesn't have any symptoms of illness such as vomiting, lack of appetite, lethargy or diarrhea then I wouldn't be concerned that this is anything more than Bella showing affection. Poor pup! This is very common with young puppies - they think there is another puppy in the mirror, and may get frustrated or sad because they can't figure out how to get to it :) Your puppy will eventually get tired of hanging around the mirror, but you can help by playing with him someplace else or taking him for a walk to help him forget about it.

If Louie is otherwise acting normally (normal appearance regarding appetite, thirst, peeing, stools, walking, playing, and sleeping), it sounds like either a noise or a smell has his attention and may be activating his instinctive response to be alerted and cautious. Mice or other pests are common culprits as dogs can often smell or hear them through openings such as electrical outlets or light fixtures in walls. Strange behavior can also indicate early onset neurologic disease, so if nothing can be found that he may be looking for, please have him examined by your veterinarian, especially if he starts having any other abnormal behavior, trouble walking, trouble hearing, or other signs of neurologic disease.
