Can I treat my dog's staff infection at home until Monday's vet?

Poor Luna! Taking her into the vet on Monday is exactly the right thing to do. You can use a cloth to continue to try to wipe her ear but I would avoid making it damp as water could get into her ear That will make any ear infection worse. I would place an Ecollar on her to keep her from scratching at her ear, as that will cause trauma to the ear. You can make an Ecollar at home, and I will put a link below on how to do that. This does not look very alarming and I think it can wait until Monday. Keep giving his antibiotic, do not let it get contaminated with dirt and keep the e-collar on your dog at all times in order to keep him from licking.

The only things you can do in the meantime is to put an e-collar around his neck to prevent him from licking the area, you can also clean the wound with a clean wet cotton, but it will require antibiotic treatment to heal/

Hello. This does not look too bad. I do not think Shasta needs oral antibiotics, but it may benefit from a topical antibiotic. I would show this to your vet & see how concerned she might be. Otherwise, hot compresses & keeping Shasta from doing any licking on the area ( using either an Elizabethan collar, T-shirt, or canine body suit ) should be all that is necessary. A topical antibiotic ointment would help this, bit if you are limited with what you can find I would start by keeping the wounds clean with a diluted Betadine solution (Betadine diluted in water or saline to a light brown color) and keep wounds clean 3 times per day to help prevent infection. If the infection is too deep in the tissues, it is likely that Macana will need oral antibiotics. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction. Poor Sookie! If she has mastitis then she will need an oral antibiotic to treat. You can not purchase one without a prescription from a vet who does an examination. You could soak the area in a warm Epsom salt solution and have her examined by a vet as soon as possible. You could try to find an emergency clinic and have her seen tonight, especially if the lethargy becomes worse. Hope she feels better soon!

If you can shave the fur away and clean the area twice daily with warm and mild soap then apply a topical antibacterial cream twice daily it may help. If the area gets worse or isn't starting to improve with a week you should have her seen by a Vet. Most exams and antibiotics shouldn't be that expensive. I hope this helps and I wish Akuma the best!
