What is this squishy, red, liquid-filled lump on my dog's belly?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Female | unspayed | 2 months and 6 days old | 18 lbs

My dog has a squishy lump kind of red on her lower belly . It doesn’t bother her and if I squeeze it any clear liquid comes out. It just popped up the last 2 days probably the size of a quarter

This appears to be what's known as a serous cyst. These are often caused by some sort of trauma to the skin; like a pinch or bite. They are usually benign (will not cause a problem) and will go away on their own in two weeks or so. It's possible for it to get infected, so watch for signs of increased redness, pus and an increase in size as a sign that it is getting infected. If you notice this, then she will need to go to the vet for treatment.

I hope that helps and Nahla gets better soon.
