Why does my dog have spreading red, blistery sores on his face?

Based on the picture, I would suspect something infectious such as a virus or bacterial infection. It could be a severe case of acne but it is a different presentation than I've seen before. I would recommend having this looked at by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. She may need to be on an oral antibiotic and topical ointment to treat this. I hope this helps!

Hello. When you say Wall Barley, are you talking about a Warble? This is a fly larvae that is laid by a fly in a scratch or cut in the skin. It does not present as you describe. If your ointment seems to be helping, then continue this. It is a good combination of a steroid, antibiotic & fungal medication. If the lesions continue to reoccur, you may need to have a biopsy of the skin & active lesions to diagnose the underlying problem. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I can see that Brooke has a significant amount of redness and hair loss under her nose, chin, and around her lips. This can be caused by bacterial or fungal infections as well as allergic reactions. Unfortunately, some fungal infections such as ringworm can come from soil and be transmitted to people. I recommend having Brooke seen by a vet as soon as possible - she may need antibiotics to resolve the infection and itching. I hope this helps and that all is well!

I recommend you have her evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment as this will likely require local therapy with cleaning of the site, pain control medications and antibiotics. Without seeing a picture of what you are describing it is difficult to say for sure what this could be. I suspect, due to Blue's age, that this could be a viral papilloma, histiocytoma or pimple-like growth. In all 3 cases, it should resolve on its own. It could be something other than these 3 possibilities. If the spot does not resolve or it worsens, I would recommend having a veterinarian examine Blue to that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This is possibly due to allergies. It really comes down to figuring out what is causing his allergies so that they can be treated or the specific allergen avoided. A secondary infection is likely and also needs to be addressed. There are medications such as Apoquel or prednisone which may help with the itch. 

 There are many things that can cause allergies though in most cases they can be broken down into 3 big categories: flea, food and environmental allergies. 

Allergies are usually worked up in a stepwise fashion starting with flea allergies as this is the easiest and cheapest to take care of. If not on a flea preventative, then it would be a good idea to get started on one. If already on one then it would be a good idea to change to something else (there are many new products out in the market). 

If not improved in 1-3 months then it is time to move on and check for food allergies by switching to a novel diet (new protein and new carbohydrate). If that does not seem to be the issue then you are left out having to check for environmental allergies which require blood and/or skin tests.

 Allergies can be very frustrating to deal with at first but so rewarding at the end when we are able to treat them effectively!
