My dog has a sore on her leg. What is it and should I see a vet?

Other possible causes are demodex (non-contagious mite) and ring worm. Skin infections are usually caused by allergies to food or the environment. Pit bulls are sadly allergic dogs. Nova ideally needs to see your Vet to confirm the skin infection and get oral antibiotics and medications to stop the scratching, You can discuss with your Vet food options and additional allergy testing and medications if her skin continues to be a problem. You can try a medicated shampoo. The mass on the leg has the appearance of a histiocytoma which is a benign tumor that is common in young dogs. It will usually regress within a few weeks to a couple months. I would not be overly concerned unless it does not go away or if it starts to bother him. If they are raised wart-like things, then they are probably papilloma virus warts that again, should go away on their own. It is difficult for me to tell if they are raised from the photo. If they are not raised......I'm not quite sure what that it from. It would probably be best if you took him to the vet for an exam before you do any "home remedies" since we don't really know what we are treating. You don't want to make it worse. The only real recommendation I can give you at this stage is to get him an immune boosting supplement as both histiocytomas and papillomas can be a sign of a weak immune system. I recommend to have Pookie examined by the veterinarian. Skin masses can be many things but red raised masses are especially concerning for a skin cancer called a Mast Cell tumor. Your veterinarian will need to collect a sample of cell to examine under the microscope to determine what this is and if further treatment is needed. Have this checked out soon.

This is a pretty significant wound on Nova. The top layer of her skin is missing and the black tissue (likely muscle) is dying (necrotic). I would recommend that Nova get checked out by a vet ASAP for proper treatment. She likely needs to be sedated to have the dead tissue removed so it will heal without infection.

I can see the small, raised, slightly red hairless lump on Hazel's paw in the photo. This may be a bug bite, localized skin infection, or a mass (which is less likely in younger dogs). I recommend having the area examined by a vet to determine the underlying cause and begin the appropriate treatment. In the meantime, you can get Hazel an E-collar or "cone" to prevent her licking the area and causing further trauma and irritation.
