My dog's sore is bleeding. Does he need an emergency vet visit?

From the pictures, the skin appears red and inflamed. It does look like it is infected. While this may not be a true emergency, I would recommend getting in to see your veterinarian very soon. Ouch! Poor Lola! First thing you need to do is prevent her from licking it. If she continues to lick it will only get worse. You can place a cone collar on her to prevent this. Since it is bleeding and oozing a fluid, I am really concerned it is infected or something might be stuck in there. I would have your vet take a look at it. Your vet can properly clip and clean it and start her on the proper medicine to help her heal. They can even take an X-ray if needed. I hope this helps and she starts to feel better soon.

Oh my. This looks like I pretty bag staph infection. Your vet needs to do a culture of your pets skin to confirm what antibiotic will work to heal this. Otherwise you will likely see some resistance with whatever antibiotic you choose. Your vet also may want to do a biopsy of the skin to rule out skin cancer.
