My dog has a leg sore. Is it infected? When should I see a vet?

The spot in the picture looks infected, it will need to be clipped and treated with antibiotics. he will also need to wear an e-collar in order to prevent him from licking the area and making it worse. i would recommend taking him to the vet in order to get it treated.

Ouch! Poor Bess! This area looks pretty infected and if she had one last week my suspicion is she had allergies or some other cause leading to these areas of bacterial dermatitis (hot spots). You can try to clip some of the hair away from the area and gently clean it but I think Bess will probably need to see a veterinarian to get oral antibiotics. I don't think she has to be seen right this instant but you should try to schedule within the next day or so. Use an e-collar to prevent her from licking the area and making the issue worse. You can try to shave around it and clean it. If it continues to look superficial (as it looks on the picture), you can consider applying a thin film of triple antibiotic on it in case it is just a mild infection. I highly recommend taking Ming to a veterinarian to have this area of her evaluated. It is hard to tell from the picture but it looks like there is a wound or abrasion on her skin. Your veterinarian will be able to fully evaluate her and see if she needs antibiotics to help. They also can provide medication so she isn't so itchy. The pictures are difficult to see, but it appears that Cookie may have an infection on her skin. It may be caused by bacteria and could be secondary to scratching, fleas, or an allergy. I would get her on a good flea preventive if she's not on one already, but I think she may need to see a veterinarian as these infections sometimes need antibiotics to clear up.

It looks like there is an infection under the skin, it could be due to a bruise or some other type of injury. i would indeed recommend taking Oscar to the vet in order to get it treated, he will probably need a course of antibiotics.
