My dog has soft stool and gas after eating turkey soup. What to do?

This could be due to a number of things, most like;y him eating something that disagreed with him, something too rich that he isn't used to eating. If you changed his dog food recently or introduced wet food to his diet this could be what started it. Other possibilities include parasites, food allergies, or bacterial infection. Try feeding him a bland diet for a few days, plain cooked white rice mixed with an equal part of plain boiled chicken breast, unseasoned, or plain hamburger, cooked and the fat rinsed off. If the symptoms persist or get worse, including developing new symptoms like diarrhea, lethargy and loss of appetite, get him seen by your vet as soon as possible for an exam and fecal analysis.

Jordy is very handsome! Because turkey is high in fat (especially if fed when cooked with the skin on) I'd be concerned that Jordy has a degree of gastroenteritis (stomach and intestinal inflammation) secondary to eating turkey. He could also have a more severe issue like pancreatitis or bacterial overgrowth. If Jordy is otherwise acting normally, I'd recommend a small bland meal of boiled chicken and sweet potato or rice in a few hours. However, if he continues to vomit or have diarrhea, acts lethargic, stops eating or drinking then he should be examined by a veterinarian. Because his digestive issues have been going on for a few days it's likely he will need prescription medications like Flagyl or Cerenia to help treat. The longer the diarrhea and vomiting continues the more I would become concerned that Jordy may become dehydrated, so it's always best to err on the side of caution and see a veterinarian sooner rather than later. This is not uncommon following new and rich foods and generally will settle down within 3-5days. A probiotic/fiber supplement such as fortiflora alongside a bland diet may help rebalance the gut and monitor closely for any persistent vomiting which may indicate the need for a vet visit and additional treatment

Yes flatulence may be dietary related. Chicken and rice is the most digestible diet. At this point, I don’t think it’s the soup. Common causes of persistent diarrhea in a puppy would be intestinal parasites, bacterial or viral infection, continued dietary indiscretion (meaning he keeps eating things he shouldn’t), or, less commonly, a food sensitivity to his current puppy food. Since this has lasted longer than 24 hours, I would recommend taking Sunny to the vet for evaluation. They can check a stool sample for parasites and evaluate his vaccination history to make sure there weren’t any gaps, then proceed with a recommended treatment.

If the diarrhea does not clear up on it's own within 24-38 hours then he should see a vet for a fecal test. I doubt he would have that much diarrhea from some deli Turkey but if it is, the diarrhea should clear up on it's own.
