My dog has a soft growth on his face. Is it a papilloma wart?

It appears to be a papilloma, or wart. These are typically benign growths that resolve on their own in weeks to months. You would need to have Sharon physically examined by your veterinarian for confirmation. Surgical removal is an option, but does not guarantee another will not grow in the same spot or a different one.

I'm not sure we can tell you for sure exactly what that is, but it looks like a papilloma or wart. These are usually a benign growth and are often caused by a virus. If Marci has been in contact with other dogs recently at the dog park, a boarding or daycare facility, etc.--these are common places to pick up the virus. If it is that, he may develop more. They typically disappear on their own over the course of a few weeks. If this doesn't sound like a possibility, that raised area may simply be a spot of inflammation or folliculitis. Monitor it for growth and it us shears a good idea for your veterinarian to check out any strange lump.

Hi there and thank you for using Pet Coach! From the pictures you provided and knowing that Klaus is young, what you are seeing appears to be what we call a papilloma. These benign masses are caused by contact with the papilloma virus, usually picked up from another infected dog. The good news is that these masses typically resolve on their own and require no specific treatment. Sometimes these do not go away and need to be removed or are getting too large and become an eye sore or catch on objects and bleed. In these cases, sometimes we will prescribe an antibiotic such as Azithromycin which has been shown to reduce the size and even resolve some papillomas. Most of the time, however, these masses will turn gray or purple in color, shrink and then fall off. If you are concerned about the mass then I would get this examined by your vet. I hope this helps! Hello. If things have remained quiet, then it is not necessary to remove the wart. This would only be necessary if he somehow injured it, or it does show evidence of change. The reason we do not recommend removing the benign ones is the underlying cause is a virus, & if you remove one wart, another can pop up later on. Not that removal will cause this, but just because the virus is there. So, if you wish to remove it because of cosmetic reasons, that is absolutely fine, otherwise, if it remains static, you can safely leave it be. It looks like either a wart (papilloma) or a histiocytoma tumor. Neither of these are serious. I personally would wait and see if it goes away on it's own. A histiocytoma usually will but a papilloma will not. So, if it does not go away within 4-6 weeks then I would have it checked by your vet. If you are worried though, you should go ahead and have her checked now. It is always better to be safe than sorry. Hope this helps. Best wishes!

It is hard to tell but this appears to be a possible growth. Growths in puppies ar usually either papillomas or histiocytomas, both benign masses. I would suggest monitoring this mass for the next week or so. If it starts to get bigger, then its best to have your vet examine it and perhaps test it to ensure it is only a benign mass and nothing to be concerned about. Sometimes an anti-inflammatory medication is needed to help with the irritation that these cause. Also if Loki begins to scratch at it, its best to place an e-collar to prevent her from irritating it further. I hope everything works out well for your pet Loki. Best wishes and take care.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Am is very cute! It's hard to say 100% from the pictures. The 2 possibilities are viral Papilloma, which is contagious and likes to be on the face but more so the mouth. Dogs get it from playing with other dogs at the park or from Doggie Daycare. Papillomas are white to grey and look warty. They tend to resolve with time. The other possibility is a benign histiocytoma. They are growths that appear on young dogs that spontaneously go away with in a few months. They tend to be pink and hairless, like a button. I hope this helps!
