My dog snorted out her nasal vaccine. Will it still work or hurt?

No - this vaccine is absorbed through the mucosal tissue in the mouth, so it "works" as soon as it's given and comes into contact with her gums and the inside of her cheeks. Vomiting after the fact will not affect its efficacy at all.

Yes, the way this vaccination works is contact with the mucosa of the nose. Typically there is more than enough vaccine in the bordetella vial because many times it is sneezed out or runs out, so yes, he should be protected still.

The kennel cough vaccine can cause minor irritation to the sinuses which can result in some sneezing or snorting. This can also be from allergies or an infection starting. If you notice any change in appetite or an ocular discharge then I would him techies by your vet. If not it will dry up and pass on its own

It is likely that the vaccine has caused some irritation in the nasopharyngeal area. This will likely resolve on its own. Most likely the vaccine would not be effective and nothing else. Sometimes you could see local reactions on the site of injection (which would disappear in few days). Hello and thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Injection of a vaccine that is supposed to be given intranasally can produce local skin irritation and inflammation. I suspect Sunshine may develop a small lump at the injection site, that should disappear within a few days. I don't think there will be any more serious harm to your puppy, however I could not find any clinical report detailing reaction to subcutaneous administration of this vaccine. Please, keep an eye on Sunshine at home for the next 12-24hrs. If she starts showing any worrying symptoms (panting, breathing problems, lethargy, weakness, facial swelling) take her to your local vets right away. Obviously, the vaccine will not produce any immunity against kennel cough and it should be repeated in 7-10 days

If she has been fully vaccinated then the likelihood of her getting distemper is low. If you have any concerns, however, have her examined by your veterinarian. She may just have a viral respiratory infection. Your vet can do a physical examination, run labwork, and prescribe medications, if needed to treat.
