Could my unspayed dog's slimy urine and poor appetite be pyometra?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Drake and Pierce! The slimy poop can indicate diarrhea and mucous can make it look slimy. Mucous can indicate inflammation in the colon. Causes of diarrhea in both dogs likely indicated a viral or bacterial infection or they both ate something that is disagreeing with them like a new food, treat or table food or they got in to something. Diarrhea can cause a poor appetite if they don't feel well. If they are having a lot of bowel movements you can consider fasting them for 12-24 hours to rest the GI tract. Then restart feeding as a bland diet of boiled chicken or beef with rice. Feed 1 cup per 20 lbs per day until 2 normal stools. If Drake continues to not eat well, or stops eating he should be seen by your Vet. As for Drakes' urine smell-It could smell stronger because it is more concentrated due to dehydration or he could have an infection. I feel sometimes intact male dog urine smells stronger. You can try to collect a urine sample and see if your Vet will check it for infection. I hope this helps and I wish both Drake and Pierce a speedy recovery!

Unspayed female rabbits are at a very high risk of cancer of the uterus, so I would be very worried about that as a possibility for the weight loss. The muddy urine could also be due to high calcium in her diet leading to calcium build-up in the urine. This can cause rabbits to have sludgy urine. It is important to get this checked right away. Your vet will try to empty out the bladder, increase the fluid intake, and get a better diet that is lower in calcium. I would suggest having her seen by your vet and discuss her diet, get a urine sample, and check out her uterus. Best of luck with Ms. Bunny.

Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I would recommend bringing in another fecal sample to your vet to ensure that the coccidia have been killed. I would also recommend initiating a bland diet of chicken and rice and adding in a probiotic such as Purina Fortiflora. Sometimes a second course of dewormer is needed or a different dewormer is needed for treatment. With parasites, inflammation can result leading to diarrhea and soft stool and sometimes a bland diet or sensitive stomach is needed short term. I hope this helps! With her being intact and having the discharge you are describing, I am particularly worried about a condition known as pyometra which is an infection within her uterus. While there are other possibilities, a pyometra is most likely. Unfortunately, this is not something that can wait until tomorrow. Please seek veterinary attention for Cagney as soon as possible tonight. If she does have a pyometra, her condition can go downhill rapidly without aggressive intervention. Based on your description, you say she may be in heat, yet the Pet's info section it states that she is unspayed. If she is not spayed, she could be dealing with something called a pyometra, which is when the uterus fills with pus. This can be a life threatening condition. I would strongly recommend having her examined by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. Please refrain from giving any antibiotics until you have spoken with a veterinarian that has examined her. I hope this helps!

This may be caused by inflammatory bowel disease, pancreatitis, intestinal parasites, or even a foreign body or obstruction. If you are concerned that the blood may be in Zoey's stool, I recommend having her seen by her vet to rule out the conditions above.
