My dog has skin bumps. Are they black fly bites or an infection?

It is possible, though it looks more like it could be a bacterial infection. Ideally, take her in to the vet for an exam so that the proper treatment can be determined. It could be related to the mange but could also be caused by a skin infection or possibly a flea allergy dermatitis. You could bathe her with a medicated dog shampoo and see if that helps. Inspect her for fleas and treat her with a flea medication, like NexGard, Frontline, or Revolution every month. Otherwise, she needs to be examined by a vet to determine the cause. Your vet can do a skin scrape, cytology, or culture to help diagnose and then prescribe medications to help treat the problem.

That is probably a reaction of the skin from mange. They will most likely disappear with the healing process.
Disinfection can eventually be started at home with very diluted hibiscrub or betadine or salted water baths.
If spreading and not resolving in 4 days a check up would be necessary to understand the underlying cause (it could be due to a secondary skin infection).

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question about Gracie. Yes they do look like black fly bites, but there is no treatment for them. To prevent them, you need to clean up your yard of anything that attracts flies such as dog poop. Pick up all the dog poop, and throw it away in a closed trash can. Keep the trash can closed and locked if possible to prevent flies from coming there. Use a fly spray to kill any flies in the home. I hope this helps!

This infection may be from bacteria, fungus or both. I would recommend having her examined by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. My dog has black, flaky, itchy bumps. Are they ant bites or worse?

Those blackish areas are likely related to irritation and a secondary infection. This irritation could be any bites but fleas or environmental allergy are more common. If you are noticing multiple areas affected or if Kasper is getting worse, a trip to the veterinarian is indicated for medications. Small areas or areas that are very minor may respond to feeding a high quality food aimed at skin health such as Royal Canin or Nutro. Omega 3 fatty acids for dogs can also help improve skin health. You can wash the areas with a medicated dog shampoo and treat for fleas. I recommend Simparica or Nexgard for flea treatment. My dog has an itchy, growing bump on her butt. Is it a bite or pimple?

It is difficult to tell from the picture but this looks like it may be a spot of local skin infection. This infection, along with the fleas, is likely what is making her so itchy. I would recommend getting Dove on a good oral flea prevention. You may want to also try giving her some benedryl to help stop the itch.
