My dog has skin bumps but is acting normal. Are they serious?

This is probably an allergic reaction due to an insect bite or a plant outside. those reactions tend to resolve within 48 hours without treatment. if the swelling becomes too large or if your dog is lethargic, take her to the vet in order to get an antihistamine injection.

These look like an acute allergic reaction to something she has come in contact with or insect bites and would be expected to resolve uneventfully. Monitor for any distress or breathing difficulties but these are very rare

Hello. This sounds like it might be an allergic reaction. This could result in swelling around the airways. If hives are present (raised, haired bumps about 1cm across), then I would suggest a visit to the vet for some medications. Good luck with your little one!

Hello, these are hives so Max is having an allergic reaction to something. He may have been bitten by something or inhaled dust & pollen that initiated the reaction. If he is acting normal, this will probably subside over the next 6-12 hours. If he is in any distress at all, itching, wheezing, drooling or vomiting, he needs veterinary attention. If he does not seem bothered by the bumps, you can try bathing him in a mild oatmeal based shampoo, using only cool water. Let the shampoo sit for about 10 minutes before rinsing. If need be you can repeat this tomorrow. If you are at all worried about how he is acting, please see your veterinarian who has the medications necessary to treat this issue. Hi, from your pictures it appears that Mackenzie Ray is having an allergic reaction to something. You may see hives, small bumps, all over her skin. If she is vomiting or having trouble breathing, she needs to see a vet immediately. You can try giving her some Benadryl to see if that resolves. I cannot give you a dose but you can look one up online. Also, a shampoo with steroid can give her some relief. If this does not resolve, she may need to see a vet for some injections to make the bumps go down. Good luck, I hope this helps!

If these just arose out of nowhere I would be concerned they are hives and she is having an allergic reaction. Since they are on her face, I would consider this an emergency, so it would be recommended to take her in to the emergency clinic right away, where they can give her a shot of benadryl and a steroid shot to stop the reaction. In severe cases of allergic reactions the face can continue to swell and the swelling can extend to the airway, becoming life threatening, and we don't want that to happen!

Hello. Vegas is having a pretty significant allergic reaction to something. It could be something she ate, touched, inhaled, or was bitten or stung by. The hives will probably go down on their own, but the discoloration in her groin is the result of Vegas licking & chewing her skin. This will probably not just go away by itself, & may get worse. This is not a life-threatening situation & there are many things that can be done to help her. Until you can have Vegas seen by your veterinarian, you can bathe her in a mild oatmeal based shampoo using cool water. You can start her on a fish oil supplement & at her weight, you can give her 1000-1200 mg twice a day.
