My dog just had puppies, is sick, feverish, and may have a dead puppy.

I would recommend getting her to a vet as soon as possible. If she delivered puppies dead on friday morning and now it is saturday evening this is to long. I would recommend getting her to a vet now for an x-ray to count the number of puppies still remaining. An ultrasound to make sure they are still alive and not in stress and even bloodwork to make sure she does not need calcium supplementation to help with pushing. The vet can either give her oxytocin to help with contractions or might recommend a c-section. I hope that ronda roo is okay and you get some healthy puppies.

Ideally I strongly recommend you find a friend or someone that can help transport you to a vet clinic, as she might need surgery to save her. She might also need antibiotics. Try feeding her a high quality puppy food that is canned- this will provide her with the energy, calcium and more water that she needs, and feed her as much as she will eat. If there are clinics in your area that aren't free, I recommend bringing her and surrendering her to those clinics, as she sounds like she is seriously ill and might be in pain. I recommend a vet visit to make sure that she doesn't have any retained placentas or another dead pup inside. Both these conditions can set her up for life-threatening infection. If she is eating and drinking normally, and does not have a high temperature, she is likely ok.

Poor Pearl! If she had a dead puppy inside her all this time, it's likely that she has a serious uterine infection - this could definitely be causing her to act sick and not tend to the pups. I'm afraid she really needs to see a vet right away, as this may be a life-threatening problem. If you have financial limitations, let the vet know that up front - most vets will do their best to work within your budget. At the very least, it sounds like she will probably need prescription antibiotics to treat her infection. She may even need surgery to remove the infected uterus, depending on the severity of the problem.

I don’t think she is depressed. I think she is probably sick. I worry about a uterine infection called a pyometra. It is a pus filled uterus. It doesn’t happen often just after pregnancy, but it can. If this is her problem it is life threatening without surgery. I would encourage you to take her to your local humane society or city shelter as often they will provide low cost or even free spay and neuter. It is very serious that Brownis is vomiting and shivering, and this can be a sign of a post-whelping complication such as a metritis (an infection). This causes vomiting and fever (shivering can indicate a fever). If she has it, the puppies may suffer from ingesting toxins passed in the milk, and it is therefore not safe to let nurse. You will have to bottle feed them if she has metritis, and you will need to get puppy formula from the grocery store. You can also get it from your vet, and I would take Brownie and her puppies into a vet immediately. She needs veterinary attention now. Please take her into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website.

I am very worried about Bebe. If she hasn't had any puppies for 6 hours, but still has puppies inside, I would definitely recommend to take her to a veterinarian. Sometimes a puppy can be stuck in the birth canal or the mom gets so tired from pushing that her uterus is no longer able to contract to push the puppies out. Both of these situations are dangerous for the puppies and Bebe. The veterinarian will examine her to see if there is a puppy stuck in the birth canal and will most likely recommend taking and x-ray to see how many puppies she still has inside. Depending on what they find, they may recommend doing a c-section. In most cases, this is the only way to try and save the mother and the puppies. I am so sorry. I know this is a very scary situation.
