What to do if my dog is shaking, restless, and won't eat treats?

Poor Toby! It sounds like he's quite painful. If he can't stand, there are a number of things that could have happened to him. He could have been hit by a car, or run into something and hurt his back. He could also have a slipped disc in his back. He needs to be seen by a veterinarian as soon as possible. He or she should be able to isolate where the pain is coming from and provide the appropriate treatment.

Unfortunately, these are very vague symptoms that could be caused by almost any kind of medical problem - shaking, acting lethargic, and not eating are generally signs of pain or discomfort, but beyond that he would need an exam and some diagnostic testing to determine what's wrong. I would recommend taking him to the vet today to be seen. He/she can do blood work, x-rays, or other testing if needed to help diagnose the problem.

Toby is experiencing very general symptoms of disease, these symptoms could fit almost any internal condition, maybe he is suffering from nausea due to a gastrointestinal disease and maybe he is in pain, from the symptoms described it's very hard to know. i would recommend taking him to the vet as soon as possible in order to get him checked, if he doesn't show any other obvious symptoms during the examination, a blood test and possibly an ultrasound will be needed in order to try and find out what is wrong with Toby.

It seems like Jelly is having some sort of neurological problem that has been causing these signs. It's difficult to know how serious this is without seeing him, but uncontrollable shaking is concerning enough to warrant a visit to the vet tonight. Scabs on his body may be a sign of a skin disease such as parasites (fleas, mites), bacterial infection, fungal infection, or allergies. These can all cause itchiness and discomfort, which may be why he is shaking and has a loss of appetite. Stress from discomfort can also cause loose stools. It is also possible that Toby is dealing with multiple health issues, i.e. the skin problem may be separate from his loss of appetite and loose stool. Causes for the latter two issues include gut infection (gastroenteritis), pancreatitis, gut parasites, or food allergies. Given these many possibilities, it would be best if Toby got checked out at a vet within the next 1-2 days. They can determine the cause of the skin issue through physical exam and possible skin scraping or cytology tests. If they are suspicious of gut parasites, they may recommend checking a fecal sample. At minimum, they can prescribe medication to help improve his comfort, correct any dehydration, and treat his diarrhea. In the meantime, some things you can do at home include: 1) bathe him with a gentle aloe and oatmeal shampoo which can help to provide some relief in case of allergies. 2) transition his food to a bland, easily digestible homemade diet such as boiled chicken and plain white rice. Small, frequent meals will also help him to digest it easier. 3) add a probiotic supplement such as Fortiflora to help restore his normal gut flora. Poor baby. It sounds like he may have injured something. It is common for them to injure their back or neck and act this way. I would have your vet look st him today. Your vet will be able to localize the pain and give him the appropriate pain meds to help him feel better. If it is his lower back, you vet may also prescribe him a stool softener so it is easier for him to have a bowel movement. Your vet will also be able to do X-rays if needed. I do not recommend to give any human pain meds as most of these are toxic to dogs. I hope this helps and he starts to feel better soon!

Poor guy. He certainly sounds like he may either be in pain or has some underyling neurological disorder going on here. Your vet should know where to start looking once a complete physical examination is done, because much more information can be gathered here. They will certainly want to start with some baseline bloodwork and possibly some x-rays if he seems to have any musculoskeletal issues as well. Some possible causes for these symptoms would be an underlying neurological disorder (i.e. IVDD), Addison's disease (disease of the adrenal gland), a toxin ingestion, or just pain from something internal.
