Why is my Basset shaking, lethargic, and not eating or drinking?

Poor Misty, I understand this must be very concerning for you! I know you want to wait until tomorrow, and that could be absolutely fine and she may simply be taking a bit of an infection or general upset. However, with basset hounds and any sort of laboured breathing I always worry about a condition in their stomach called bloat or torsion, also referred to as GD or GDV. Unfortunately bassets are predisposed to this horrible condition and it is a medical emergency. I really hope this is not what is going on with Misty, but if it is she needs immediate treatment. You could watch her and see if she starts to settle, but if she is deteriorating​, becoming very lethargic, struggling to breathe or her belly is increasing in size I would go to the vet asap.

Poor Flash! It sounds like he could be painful. He could have injured himself when he slipped. It could be his back as Bassets are prone to disc issues with their long backs. Another source of pain is also possible. It would be best to have him seen by a vet for a physical exam to see if a source of pain can be located. Especially as it does not seem to be improving. Dogs are very good at going along with pain without much complaining. Your dog is exhibiting Classic signs of discomfort. It may be joint pain/ arthritis or back pain. You should have assessed by your vet to see where the issue is and consider starting him on some kind of pain management .

I would recommend taking Basil to see a veterinarian. Without a complete physical examination it is very difficult to say if it is time for Basil. The veterinarian can discuss with your friend if treatment or diagnostics is something that would help Basil or if something worse is going on with her that cannot be treated. This is an emergency. The signs are too unspecific to pinpoint what is wrong with her. She appears in pain, may have a neurological problem, and the fact that she is thin is also not normal. Please take her to a pet emergency room right away.

Poor guy. He certainly sounds like he may either be in pain or has some underyling neurological disorder going on here. Your vet should know where to start looking once a complete physical examination is done, because much more information can be gathered here. They will certainly want to start with some baseline bloodwork and possibly some x-rays if he seems to have any musculoskeletal issues as well. Some possible causes for these symptoms would be an underlying neurological disorder (i.e. IVDD), Addison's disease (disease of the adrenal gland), a toxin ingestion, or just pain from something internal. Poor guy. Since his symptoms are pretty vague and could mean just about anything. I would certainly have him examined by your vet soon. If his gums are pale, then this is an emergency and he should be seen by an ER vet right away. IT sounds like he could have ingested something that is affecting his whole body or he could have an internal organ system problem. I do hope that your pet Spot is going to be ok moving forward.
