My dog is shaking and lethargic after running away. What's wrong?

If this is unusual behavior for your dog I would be concerned that there's something wrong. Shaking and lethargy can be indicative of pain, anxiety or that the pet just isn't feeling well. I would recommend that you take her to be seen by your regular veterinarian. A thorough examination will help determine what may be wrong and how to make her feel better

You should get your dog to a vet immediately for a thorough examination as there may have been some serious damage done that is not obvious. Hopefully not and it is just the development of some muscle pain etc but at the very least the vet will be able to give some pain relief, alongside peace of mind.

Poor guy. Unfortunately, lethargy and shaking can be caused by a number of conditions including: toxin ingestion, severe anemia, sepsis (infection in the bloodstream), an electrolyte imbalance, or a neurological condition just to name a few. If Rocky is acating abnormal in this way and doesn't seem to be snapping out of it for more than 30 mins or so, then its best to take him to your local ER vet for further evaluation. Please also check his gum color to ensure they are still nice and pink. Pale gums are cause for an immediate vet visit wtihout waiting for the pet to improve. Poor Jackson! He could be shaking from pain, which would also cause him to be lethargic. At his age, it could be that he is suffering from arthritis. I would rest him tonight, and then have Jackson seen by a vet first thing tomorrow if he's still shaking and acting lethargic. The vet can diagnose what is causing his symptoms, and can treat him for them.

These can be symptoms of many serious medical issues, anxiety, fear, pain, neurologic disease, infection, etc. I would recommend that you have him checked out by a vet to see what could be going on. After a thorough physical exam and discussion of his recent history, the vet may recommend diagnostics, such as blood work, x-rays, ultrasound, etc. to diagnose the cause.

Your poor pup sounds ill! Without seeing him in person, I can't say what is causing his symptoms, but it could be due to a systemic infection or injury to name a few things. The best thing to do for him is to take him into a vet as soon as possible. I hope this helps!

A lot of terriers tend to shake and most of the time this is normal for them. However shivering can point to Prince being in pain, experiencing fear, a nervous condition, or fever or feeling cold. If this is a new occurrence and Prince does not stop shaking or shivering you should take him to a veterinarian for an exam.
