My dog's back legs shake, he's throwing up, and won't eat. Why?

It sounds as your pet is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking him to the vet urgently, he will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection he will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better. . if the vet thinks it is more serious he will need a blood test and possibly an ultrasound in order to find out what is wrong.

Sometimes weakness in the hind limbs can be caused by things like dehydration. Vomiting can be indicative of conditions such as gastroenteritis, gastrointestinal obstruction, pancreatitis, dietary indiscretion, among many other possibilities. I recommend that you have him evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to check for these possibilities and treat accordingly. Poor Handsome! The shivering could be from pain or fever. He does sound like he is quite ill. If he is continually throwing up, I'd be concerned that he has a severe GI illness, pancreatitis, or a foreign body. I'm not sure of his vaccination status, but if he isn't vaccinated, parvovirus could be causing this as well. I recommend taking him into your vet now because he sounds so ill. Your vet can give him a shot to help him stop vomiting, and can diagnose what is causing his symptoms. Your vet can also start treatment to help him feel better. I understand being scared and sad, it's awful to see your pet sick. Taking him to your vet will help you be less scared and sad, as you will be getting help for him.

Going stiff in the back legs is not expected and is very concerning. I recommend to have her seen by her veterinarian today. Infections or toxins could cause both of the symptoms and these can be very serious. Just like with humans, getting an accurate diagnosis and early treatment gives a better prognosis. I'm concerned that Shin is sick and that he could have something serious going on like diabetes, kidney failure, liver disease, heart disease, or cancer causing him to not eat, lose weight, and vomit. He sounds extremely sick and he needs to see a vet immediately. I'd take him into one now for a geriatric blood panel and urinalysis. Please take him into a vet now. Best of luck.

I hate to hear that Pantufla is not feeling well! Just like humans, there are many many causes of vomiting and some of the causes can be very serious. Any pet vomiting beyond 24 hours should be examined by the veterinarian. Any pet who is vomiting more than twice in a day or not holding down water also needs to be examined by the veterinarian. I am concerned that the shaking you are seeing indicates abdominal pain which is very worrisome for an intestinal blockage or pancreatitis. I recommend to have Pantufla examined today.
