My dog is shaking, sick, and drooling excessively. Should I see a vet?

Hello, and thanks for your question. If Archer has had symptoms for a few days already, then i'd recommend taking him in to the vet now. He may just need some meds to get his GI tract back on track, but if he may have ingested a foreign body, it's definitely best to have him seen immediately. We have a much better outcome if we can get dogs started with the right medical care before they become really sick! Your vet will likely take x-rays, and depending on the findings they'll talk through the options with you. Sometimes we can treat dogs as outpatients with Gi support, sometimes we encourage hospitalization and pushing IV fluids (if there is foreign material present but we think it might still pass on its own), and sometimes we need to take dogs right to surgery. Nausea and diarrhea can occur secondary to conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease, dietary indiscretion, parasites, among other possibilities. I recommend that you have Lily evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. At the very least they can start her on medications to make her feel better and check her hydration status. In the meantime, keep water available at all times to try to prevent dehydration. I am sorry to hear about Pixi. These are concerning symptoms, and I would recommend having her examined by her veterinarian. Drooling can be a sign of nausea. Shaking can be from pain/discomfort. If she hasn't been eating regular meals I would recommend rubbing honey or karo syrup on her gums and getting her to the vet right away if she is a very small dog (your post doesn't mention her weight, but in tiny breeds we can get hypoglycemia where the blood sugar drops and this can cause shaking and drooling https://veterinarypartner.vin.com/default.aspx?pid=19239&id=4952329 ). That may not be what is going on with Pixi but just in case I wanted to mention this.

Hi. Yes this does sound concerning. Drooling is a sign of nausea usually, or an oral irrirant or lesion in the mouth. If she has diarrhea too, I would say its most likely nausea. This can be caused by gi disease, something they ate, infection, something stuck in intestines, or many other causes. She should be seen with these signs.

Also, mushrooms can result in liver toxicity in dogs that tends to be significant. Even if he vomited some of it, there is still likely some left in his system. I think it would be best to have him evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment.
