My dog had seizures. Why is her neck and tummy swollen and she hurts?

Tia may be dealing with seizures, or another type of neurological disease, or she may have heart condition causing her to have a condition called syncope, which can look similar to what you mentioned. You need to take Hope into a vet right away. In a senior dog, seizures can be caused by liver disease, kidney failure, low or high blood sugar, or cancer such as tumors of the brain. Unfortunately, the swelling on her belly could indicate mammary tumors, which can be common in unspayed dogs. Mammary tumors have a 50% chance of being malignant. The vet can do a physical exam, geriatric blood panel, urinalysis, and possibly x-rays to diagnose what is causing her symptoms. The vet will also examine the swellings in her abdomen, and diagnose if she does have mammary tumors and if they are malignant or not. If Hope seizures again before you can seek vet care: - Don't put your hands near her mouth - Keep some rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle to spray on the pads of the feet for cooling - Monitor her at all times during the seizure to ensure that she cannot hurt herself by crashing into furniture, etc - If the seizure continues for more than 5 minutes, seek emergency care immediately

Owen is a handsome guy! The location of that mass could indicate a few options. There is salivary tissue in that area. Glands and ducts can become clogged or inflamed and cause a swelling. There are also lymph nodes in the neck. An inflamed node or a cancer in the nose can cause a firm lump. Thyroid tissue is also in the neck. It may also just be an ordinary abscess from a puncture. Owen will need a hands on exam to get an idea of what is going on. Your vet will probably do a needle aspirate to determine which type of tissue is affected and what the most likely possible diagnosis may be.

I highly recommend that you have Casey evaluated by a veterinarian as soon as possible for further assessment and treatment. Diagnostics that will be recommended will include bloodwork and advanced imaging such as an MRI. Sheena should be evaluated by a veterinarian right away! If her belly is swollen she could be suffering from bloat (stomach full of air), a GDV (where the stomach bloats and turns on itself) or she could have fluid in her belly or uterus (pyometra). I think the rash on Tinkerbell's abdomen might be irritation from urine if she is leaking. I would be concerned that the urine leakage could be a sign of ongoing neurologic disease, and I think it would be best to recheck with your vet or see an emergency vet to make sure she is able to empty her bladder appropriately. I'm not sure about the swelling (it's hard to see in your picture), but it's possible that this is related to the fluids, or it could be a sign that something else is going on. It sounds to me like she might benefit from continued monitoring and hospitalization.
