What to do for a chihuahua having seizures and abdominal lumps?

You need to take Hope into a vet right away. In a senior dog, seizures can be caused by liver disease, kidney failure, low or high blood sugar, or cancer such as tumors of the brain. Unfortunately, the swelling on her belly could indicate mammary tumors, which can be common in unspayed dogs. Mammary tumors have a 50% chance of being malignant. The vet can do a physical exam, geriatric blood panel, urinalysis, and possibly x-rays to diagnose what is causing her symptoms. The vet will also examine the swellings in her abdomen, and diagnose if she does have mammary tumors and if they are malignant or not. If Hope seizures again before you can seek vet care:
- Don't put your hands near her mouth
- Keep some rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle to spray on the pads of the feet for cooling
- Monitor her at all times during the seizure to ensure that she cannot hurt herself by crashing into furniture, etc
- If the seizure continues for more than 5 minutes, seek emergency care immediately

Why is my chihuahua shaking, whimpering, not eating, and has bumps?

Poor Mini! I see that she isn't spayed, and I would be very concerned that these two bumps around her nipples are mammary tumors. Dogs who are not spayed are prone to developing mammary tumors, and 50% of those tumors are malignant. They will be painful as well, causing her to not want to eat and possibly vomit. The best thing to do is have her seen by a vet as soon as possible. The vet will need to do biopsy of these bumps to diagnose if they are malignant or benign. Should they be malignant, they will need to be removed surgically, and her local lymph nodes will need to be checked to see if there has been localized spread of the cancer. Please take her into a vet.

My Chihuahua has a small, unchanging belly lump. What is it?

A lump in this location could be a mammary tumor. These are growths in the breast tissue. They can be benign or malignant. I always recommend surgical removal because they continue to grow, even if they are not cancerous. Another possibility would be a hernia. If this is a hernia, surgery would be recommended to repair it because organs such as intestines, bladder or uterus can become entrapped. I would recommend an evaluation by a veterinarian to determine what it is and make recommendations on how to treat it.

Why is my senior chihuahua's belly swollen, tender, and back tense?

Symptoms like this can be related to pain in the back or pain in the pancreas. Even though she is acting normal, the tense areas indicate there is some discomfort and I recommend to have her examined by her veterinarian. The doctor may recommend radiographs to check the spine or a blood test to check the pancreas. Both conditions should be treated to alleviate pain. My senior female Chihuahua is sluggish, losing weight, and has lumps.

I would recomend a vet visit asap for Lillie. Intact female dogs are at a high risk for mammary cancer. Other worries may be organ disease due to her age. She should have a full physical exam and based on those findings a vet may recommend further testing to find out what is going on with Lillie.

It is difficult to determine the cause without an examination but abdominal enlargement can be caused by a variety of medical conditions including an accumulation of fluid, organ enlargement, Cushings disease, etc. You should schedule an examination with a vet to determine if there is a medical problem that needs to be treated. Your vet can run blood-work and take x-rays to help determine the cause.
