My dog had a seizure but is acting normal now. What are my next steps?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Female | unspayed | 3 years and 4 months old | 4.1 lbs

Yesterday my 4 years old female chihuahua started acting weird kind of paralyzed, I think she was having a seizure, which has never happened before, and then she was acting normal, eating, playing, etc. What can I do? Thank you

Since Abby is acting normal right now it is probably ok to keep an eye on her for now. If she did have a seizure I would recommend having blood work performed to rule out any metabolic issues that could cause seizures.

Best of luck! Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
