My dog's scabbed spot isn't healing. Is it ringworm or vet time?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | French Bulldog | Female | spayed | 7 years old | 28 lbs

My Dog Lucy has had a spot that started as a bump and then scabbed over and now looks like a round patch. It has been there for about a week and a half. I thought it was ringworm so I started treating it with clotrimazole 1% about 5 days ago and it doesn’t seem to be getting any better and it may look a slightly bit bigger — it is not quite the size of a dime. It doesn’t bother her at all. Is there something else to use or should I take her to my vet

If it was a wound then it may take several days before you see hair starting to regrow. However, if it is ringworm or something else then it may take weeks to see improvement. I think it is always a good idea to have it looked at. Best of luck and thank you for using Pet Coach.
