My dog has a runny nose, drools, and ear pain. Can I wait for the vet?

I'm sorry Pebbles isn't feeling well! I am concerned by your description that she is very lethargic. Lethargy is a very general sign of illness, and it can be caused by systemic illness, infection, inflammation, or injury among many other causes. The drooling and runny nose could be due to a respiratory infection. As long as Pebbles is eating and drinking normally, and going to the bathroom normally, then you can wait until the morning to have her seen by a vet. If she, however, isn't eating or drinking normally, then I would have her seen by a vet now.

Please take Brutus to an emergency vet or veterinarian right away, if you have not done so in the meantime, as these could also be signs of bloat (GDV). This would be a life-threatening emergency. An ear infection does not cause such severe signs. Panting points to pain, drooling points to a gastrointestinal problem, and considering it is a large dog. a GDV is not unlikely.

Poor Henry! While this may be caused by an upper respiratory infection from having an endotracheal tube placed for surgery to keep his airways open to breathe, it may be unrelated. Henry may have kennel cough, or even something more serious like pneumonia. Unfortunately, these conditions require treatment with antibiotics, which are likely different from the ones he may have been given post surgery. If Henry is eating and playing normally, and just overall being his normal self, it is likely okay to wait until tomorrow morning to have him seen. Because of Henry’s breed, and him having a shortened airway, I do recommend that he is seen by an emergency vet if you are concerned that he is unable to breathe properly. This is an emergency in all dogs, but in breeds like pugs, bulldogs, etc it is important to have them stabilized as soon as possible. I’m happy to answer any addition questions you may have!

Based on what you are describing and the location of the lump I would be concerned that your dog has either enlarged lymph nodes (either from infection or cancer) or an abscess. Since your dog has these symptoms and is lethargic as well I would be concerned about a systemic illness. Hello, thank you for your question about Lily. Based on the symptoms you are describing it sounds like Lily may have an upper respiratory infection or other respiratory disease. If Lily is otherwise acting ok (not lethargic) and is still eating and drinking well I do not think there is a problem in waiting to see the vet until tomorrow. If Lily is very lethargic, has no appetite, or she begins to breath very rapidly or have difficulty I would strongly recommend trying to have her seen by a veterinarian sooner. Based on Lily's symptoms your veterinarian may recommend performing chest x-rays, bloodwork, or a respiratory swab for testing. Hope this helps, good luck!

Drooling can be a sign of nausea and this with a decreased activity level can be observed with many conditions such as gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, kidney disease, pancreatitis, among many other possibilities. I recommend that you have Rufus evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to check for these possibilities and others depending on the findings on exam.
