Yes she sure can. It can take up to 1 week to rid the first round of worms in her system. Then as the worms in her system go through their 2 week life cycle (from baby worms to adult worms that you see in the poop) they should be treated again as a re-emergence of worms is seen. So the deworming schedule that I follow to ensure all worms (baby's and adults) are gone is as follows: 1) Deworm today 2) Deworm again in 3 days 3) Deworm again in 2 weeks But technically and most of the time you can get away with just doing #'s 1, and 3. They will typically shed worms and eggs on their feces for up to 5-7 days after deworming. Precautions to take at home include cleaning any feces immediately after they poop and washing your hands immediately after picking up after them. Most common route of infection to humans is through fecal to oral, so by thoroughly washing your hands after cleaning for them, you will reduce your chanced of becoming infected. Cocoa looks like she has a severe respiratory infection as well and would benefit from a prolonged course of antibiotics for her severe nasal discharge. Assuming that the dewormer given was appropriate for the types of worms/intestinal parasites that she has, she would typically need to be dewormed again in 2 weeks and have a reaper exam to confirm that she is negative for intestinal parasites in approximately 3 weeks. Pyrantel is effective against roundworms, hookworms and whipworms. For Tapeworms, she would need praziquantel or a broad spectrum dewormer such as Drontal Plus. For Giardia she would need metronidazole and Panacur and for coccidia, Albon is the medication of choice. All of these parasites are zoonotic and contagious to people and other dogs as well. Diligent handwashing after handling is recommended, as is diligent environmental cleanup as she can easily become re-infected if she walks back over stool left in the backyard and licks her paws. Hello, you should expect a die off period of 3-5 days after administration of the medication. Because it is administered orally, most roundworms and hookworms begin to die almost immediately, but it may take up to 3-5 days to have complete clearance of worms. You need to clean up the stools as soon as he goes to prevent contamination of the environment. Your son should be ok as long as he isn’t eating the poop. Just make sure to wash his hands after he plays with the puppy or before he eats. You will need to treat Koga twice (3 weeks apart) and the you should be all set. Good luck and kisses to Koga!

Depending on the stage of infection, it can take several days for all of the adult worms to die and be passed in the feces. It is normal to see different types of worms in the feces, as this product kills several types of worms, which are very common in puppies. If you notice that your puppy is continuing to have diarrhea after several days, I recommend bringing a stool sample from Blaze to your vet to determine which parasites are present. The best time to give a second dose is approximately 20 days after the first dose. This should hit the worms that hatch from eggs remaining but before they can lay new eggs. If Brownie had such a severe case of worm infection, you may want to collect a fresh fecal sample about 3-4 days after the second dose of wormer and take that to your vet for a fecal exam. This sample should be clear.
