How long does Heartgard Plus take to kill dog roundworms & hookworms?

Depending on the stage of infection, it can take several days for all of the adult worms to die and be passed in the feces. It is normal to see different types of worms in the feces, as this product kills several types of worms, which are very common in puppies. If you notice that your puppy is continuing to have diarrhea after several days, I recommend bringing a stool sample from Blaze to your vet to determine which parasites are present. It should start killing worms within 24 hours. Penny will need another dose of it in two weeks to kill all the worms. This is due to the life cycle of worms. There will be eggs that will not have hatched yet at the time of the first deworming, so another needs to be given in two weeks to kill those when they do hatch. I hope this helps!

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Yes, I recommend treating with first round then repeating a round 3-4 weeks after the first. Then her stool rechecked 4 weeks after the 2nd round. Be sure to start your dog on a good heartworm preventative like Intercpetor or Sentinel which can help prevent reinfection with Hookworms. If your dog has been off heartworm preventatives have her tested before restarting. I hope this helps and good luck!

Heartguard Plus also controls roundworms and hookworms, so there is no need to give the Nemex 2 now. However you should give your puppy Nemex in about two to three weeks in order to hit the worms that hatch from the eggs the Heartguard did not catch.

Did you mean Pyrantel? Yes, it's ok to give pyrantel along with her normal heartworm prevention. make sure to have her stool checked again after treatment to be sure the infection is cleared. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.

Yes this should be fine and shouldn't cause him any harm. I just wouldn't give them on the same day. You will need to deworm today and repeat it in 3 weeks to help get ride of the hookworms. I would then have your vet check a stool lsample to ensure they are gone. I hope this helps!
