Why does my dog love rolling in the grass so much? Is it normal?

Frido's rolling behavior on the ground outside is quite normal and common! This is not a behavior restricted to Corgis or Corgi mixes since dogs of any breed will display this tendency. Many dogs will roll or rub themselves on the grass because they have an itch, enjoy the small of a certain area, or use it as a way to get out some pent up energy.

The poop may have smell very nice to your dog, or Bailey wanted to cover up his own scent. It is typical instinctual behavior. mask their scent to help them sneak up on their prey. My own dog used to roll in badger poop whenever she could find it. I am afraid it is something you will have to live with. A bath will take care of the smell.

Pets will eat grass when they are either bored or have an upset stomach. By eating the grass it will tickle their throat on the way down and usually cause them to vomit up whatever is upsetting their stomach. If Riley isn't vomiting or has a decreased appetite, then he is likely just bored. I would however refrain him from eating grass, to prevent him from having any vomiting episodes. Sometimes dogs will roll around right after you applied flea prevention to try to remove the product off their fur. Try to prevent this by walking her or providing another distraction. If she continues to do it, she could be itchy and I recommend to have her examined if that is the case. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.

They may eat it because it tastes good, out of boredom or even to make themselves vomit if they aren't feeling well. It is best to avoid this as much as possible. The reason is that the grass during the spring and summer can be sprayed with pesticides which can be quite toxic to dogs. My own theory is that one possible reason they seem to eat it is because of stuff sprayed on them like pesticides which may have a flavor they enjoy. Good luck and have a great day!
