Hi. Why is my dog reverse sneezing frequently? She also seems like she’s trying to vomit but can’t.

Thank you for using Pet Coach! Reverse sneezes are similar to regular sneezes in that it is triggered by something that irritates the upper airway (nasal passages and nasopharynx). Occasional reverse sneezes are normal. However, since Luna is having frequent and repeated bouts of reverse sneezed, it could indicate that something more serious is triggering it. Allergies, an environmental irritant (such as perfume) or even foreign bodies (like grass) in the back of the nasal passages can cause reverse sneezes. If she continues to have bouts of reverse sneezing, or if she also develops discharge from her nose or bad breath, you should make an appointment with your veterinarian to get Luna checked out! She is lucky to have you!
