Why is my dog restless, panting, whining, and wanting to lay in dirt?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Bear! He is probably uncomfortable if he keeps getting up and rearranging himself. With the vomiting it makes me think his belly hurts and he is nauseous and that is why he can't rest comfortably or eat. Possible causes of vomiting, not eating and an uncomfortable belly are: pancreatitis, a foreign body that is stuck, inflammation of the stomach or intestines from viral or bacterial infections or from eating something that doesn't agree with him. I recommend that you take Bear to your Vet as soon as you can. Based on their physical exam they may want to do blood work and X-rays of his belly. Panting can be due to pain, anxiety, fever, respiratory troubles, etc. Warm can be due to pain, anxiety, fever, and other conditions. If Bear is not eating, drinking, or is just lying there panting, or having vomiting, diarrhea, or seems painful, then I would get him to a vet. Other conditions include heart failure, blood clots, etc. As you can see there are many causes of panting and being warm. If Bear is acting abnormal in any other way get him to the vet right away. Otherwise you can monitor but if the panting is abnormal for his behaviour and continues for the next 30min or so I would take him to a vet. Best of luck with Bear!

Poor Bear. He sounds sick, and his symptoms could be caused by a systemic illness, infection, or injury. I'm concerned this is going on, and I think it's best you take him into a vet today. To help diagnose what is causing his symptoms, the vet can do a geriatric blood panel and urinalysis. Once a cause is found, the vet can discuss treatment options. I hope this helps!

There are many possibilities for the symptoms you are describing: Not eating, panting, lethargic, restless. Some things that could be wrong: she could have a fever, she could be in pain (in her belly), she could be in heart failure, have pneumonia or other lung or heart issue, she could have eaten something that is now stuck in her intestines or stomach, lyme disease, she could be bleeding some where or she could have a metabolic problem like kidney failure, liver disease, etc. The possibilities are long and some are serious. The most serious symptom you are reporting is the trouble breathing, that alone is a reason to take her to your Vet today. I wish you the best of luck!

If Ana is still continuing this behavior, I recommend to have her seen by her veterinarian. Toxin exposure, severe abdominal pain, or perhaps a severe anal gland infection could all cause this type of restlessness and discomfort. Sewage can carry toxins. Either something in his hind end is hurting him very badly, or your dog is showing signs of small seizures. I would video this behaviour and take the video with you to your vet ( bring thee dog also for an exam). Your vet will examine Bear, his anal sacs (they may be impacted or inflamed) and his hip and hind legs. depending on the findings he will empty his anal sacs or prescribe pain medicine for joint pain or other medication necessary to make your dog healthy again.

It is recommended to take LIttle Bear to the veterinarian to be evaluated. There are many different causes of vomiting. He may have a gastrointestinal upset, Pancreatitis, Foreign Body, etc. Your veterinarian will be able to do a complete physical examination and determine if any and what diagnostics are needed.
