My dog has respiratory infection, heart disease, no appetite, not better?

Hello. It often takes a bit of time for some infections to clear, but if you are concerned, please have her rechecked as soon as possible. This may be an indication that a new, or another antibiotic needs to be added to her treatment. Another option is to have her re-evaluated at a referral clinic, one that has multiple specialists. Sometimes, it takes a fresh pair of eyes to diagnose a difficult problem. Do not wait to see what happens since she is obviously worse. If the respiratory signs got worse despite the treatment given, I would recommend another check up today (am) to make sure the condition has been diagnosed correctly and no other treatment need to be added. It is very important to rule out any possibility of heart disease as well.

If Toodie is still suffering from a respiratory tract infection, I would recommend rechecking with the veterinarian and consider additional testing such as culturing the respiratory tract to see if there is a resistant bacteria. If you want to start an antibiotic, I would recommend starting Doxycycline and if there is no improvement, consult with the veterinarian and have Toodie examined for further recommendations in regards to diagnostics and treatment. Respiratory diseases can take quite a bit of time to resolve. If it has only been 4 days I really think you need to give her more time. I really cannot comment on those medications as I am not familiar with them; we do not use them in the U.S. Without knowing her diagnosis (respiratory disease is very vague) it is very difficult to give you any further advice. If you do not think she is improving I suggest you take her back to the vet for some x-rays of her lungs and some blood testing.

I would have expect it to get better on these antibiotics, in that case there is a very good chance that it's a fungal infection rather than a bacterial infection, you need to take her back to the vet ASAP and ask him to try an anti fungal treatment.

Hello, and I'm sorry to hear that Layla has been unwell. Her dose of antibiotic does not seem inappropriate. It is possible that the antibiotic choice is incorrect. Since she is not improving, your vet may recommend a change of medication, or consider blood work and chest x-rays to rule out pneumonia, which may require other treatments such as IV fluid therapy and IV antibiotics. In the meantime, you can try a humidifier, or saline nasal sprays to help loosen secretions in her nasal cavity. Your vet may also suggest a cough suppressant to help improve her comfort.
