Should I remove my dog's leg sling for sleep, bath, or nail trims?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 12 years and 7 months old | 39 lbs

My vet told me to make a sling for my dog’s nerve damage to her front leg. I did, but the question I have is whether it should be taken off when she is in bed or on 24/7? What about when I give her a bath or nail grinding?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I would imagine it would be ok to remove at the time of a bath or nail clipping but I would consult with your veterinarian before doing any changes as they know her condition in more detail and would be able to make more accurate recommendations. Good luck!
