My dog's eye is red and swollen after getting loose. Is it cherry eye?

That looks like Cherry eye but a swollen 3rd eye lid could also look like this. Cherry eye is not generally uncomfortable/itchy so I have some concerns that something else is happening (maybe a foreign object trapped underneath the eye lid). Yes, continue to have her wear the cone and I recommend to have her examined today to determine the exact cause and treatment. If it is cherry eye, surgery should be done quickly. I hope this helps.

I believe I just responded to your other question (https://www.petcoach.co/question/?id=293456), but did not see the photos. Based upon these photos, it appears that Coco's third eyelid is certainly inflamed/irritated. It does not quite resemble a cherry eye in the photos, but simply looks inflamed. The third eyelid can become inflamed for many causes, the primary one being allergies (to fleas, food or the environment). It can also become inflamed as a result of other inflammatory issues in the eye (corneal ulcers or uveitis). If Coco is rubbing at his eye at all, make sure he is wearing an e-collar (cone) until his appointment. As long as his eye does not dramatically get worse, causing him to squint, you should not need to rush to a vet immediately as I had previously mentioned in my other answer. I would recommend a check up by your vet - it looks like the third eyelid is inflamed (common with viral infections) and may be developing a cherry eye. In the meantime, bathing with sterile saline eye wash may help keep the eye fresh and clean and reduce any discomfort

It's a little difficult to tell exactly what might be red and swollen in your picture. It looks like the redness and swelling may be around the eye as opposed to actual eye itself. If this is the case, an allergic reaction or eyelid infection would be two of the more common causes. If it is the white of his eye that looks swollen conjunctivitis, a corneal abrasion, or inflammation in the eye would all be possibilities. If the swelling worsens or if you notice swelling around the other eye or the muzzle I'd recommend seeing a veterinarian as soon as you can since this would increase the concern for an allergic reaction which should be treated promptly. Otherwise I think you're okay to wait to see your regular veterinarian if the swelling is still present in the morning, unless he seems painful or begins squinting.
