Dog has red spots on belly and feels hot. Is it an allergic reaction?

Advantage) as fleas are by far the most common reason for these reactions. If the fleas are not the problem, it could be an allergic reaction to food or an environmental factor. this is more complicated to treat and will sometimes require medications such as Steroids, anti histamines or cyclosporin in order to stop the allergy.

These spots are usually due to a bacterial skin infection. the round red spots, hesitating in circular darker areas are commonly called epidermal collarettes. A mild antiseptic shampoo for dogs based on 4% chlorhexidine digluconate can be used with good results in these cases. This can be used twice weekly until complete resolution is seen.
