My dog has red spots on her belly. What are they? Is it an emergency?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 50 lbs

My dog has red spots on her undercarriage. Our vet is not open until Monday. We are trying to figure out what the spots are and if we should take her to the pet ER?

I think it looks like Jersey might have a bacterial skin infection, or potentially insect bites on her belly. If Jersey seems painful or extremely itchy or has other symptoms you may want to see an emergency vet, but otherwise I think it is okay to wait until your vet opens to have these skin lesions examined.
